Linnea Good leading happy singersOur Impact Why We Exist

We are an affiliation of music leaders, teachers and performers whose aim is to increase children's involvement in local music lessons, activities and attendance at performances. Because Music:

* is a lifelong joy

* fosters healthy communities

* improves children’s language, reasoning, spatial intelligence, creativity, problem-solving, devotion to sustained effort, will to strive for excellence, teamwork, healthy risk-taking, cultural empathy, self-expression, communication and connection to their heritage.

Our Story What We Do

Summerland ArtSpirit has a presence at local events, to be in conversation with parents and children about the possibilities for musical involvement.

We run an annual music fair at the Summerland Elementary Schools called Choose Music - a morning event in which we invite music teachers, leaders, performers of all kinds (choir, guitar, piano, hip hop dancing, ukulele, hand chimes, drum circles, etc) from the South Okanagan area to come and offer a series of 30-minute timed work stations to give children a brief experience of each musical art.

We hold the annual Summerland Music Camp in July, offering children 6-12 three different musical disciplines over the course of the week and a closing performance.

Lessons are offered weekly: presently Ukulele for children - with more to come.

We host various community offerings such as a family karaoke night or movie evening, throughout the year.
