Penticton & District Community Resources Society
Our Impact Why We Exist
Our Mission: PDCRS strengthens the community by helping people to achieve their maximum potential through the provision of quality supports and services that meet identified needs.
Our Vision: A strong community with opportunities for all.
Our Story What We Do
Celebrating 50 years of service...PDCRS was registered under the Societies Act of BC as Penticton Health and Welfare in 1966. The name was later changed to Penticton & District Social Planning Society, with our current name selected in 1986. PDCRS has a history of responding to community needs, bringing together groups of individuals to help solve community problems, disseminating information and developing programs which improve the quality of life in people in Penticton and the South Okanagan Similkameen region.
Our Programs How We Do It
From care for newborn babies to transportation for seniors, PDCRS programs are accessible to all residents in the region. We are proud to serve over 600 individuals and their families per day in the areas of:
- Childcare & Support Services - a continuum of childcare options for children birth to 12 years, including children and youth with special needs
- Community Living Services - programs for adults with a developmental disability
- Youth & Family Services - counselling and support for children, youth and their families
- Community Development Initiatives - services such as Harm Reduction, handyDART and Better at Home that respond to the needs of our communities
All services are designed to support people in achieving their maximum potential. Additionally, services are developed in response to the needs of the communities we serve. PDCRS is accredited with CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities) and as such, we have a strong culture of continuous quality improvement embedded in all that we do.
