Canadian Mental Health Associaton - SOS

Our organization supports the mental health of all citizens in our community. The people we serve develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand and manage their mental health, and build healthy relationships and networks of support. Our work with partner organizations ensures appropriate and timely navigation and referrals in the health care system. We operate Unity Clubhouse which provides social, recreational and educational programs for 150 individuals living with a mental illness. We also have a mental health advocate who works with clients to become more knowledgeable and assertive when dealing with their concerns. We have a consumer development program that approves funding to support recreational, physical, educational, health and personal growth opportunities. We also have a supportive employment program that works with Interior Health. Clients gain work experience in janitorial services and car detailing.

Our Impact Why We Exist

As a nationwide leader and champion of mental health, CMHA-SOS facilitates access to the resources to maintain and improve mental health and integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. CMHA achieves this mission through advocacy, education, research and services.
